CFL’s for today and tomorrow

March 4, 2009

A Compact Fluorescent Lamp, referred to as a CFL, is designed to be used in place of a regular incandescent light bulb in a standard light fixture socket.  Compared to ordinary light bulbs CFL’s provide the equivalent amount of visible light and consume less power while offering a longer useful life.  CFL’s can save annually about $30 in electricity costs and will last up to 10  times longer than a regular light bulb. Today CFL’s are offered in wide variety of shapes and sizes to replace most types of lamps.  Like all fluorescent lamps, CFL’s do contain a minimal amount of mercury so you will need to dispose of them properly.  We have made arrangements with Mercury Technologies of Minnesota, Inc. to recycle expired CFL’s, so you may return your used CFL’s to us for collection.  Come explore the full display of CFL’s in our electrical department next time you’re in town.  Start saving today.
